Screaming manThere’s a disturbing trend going on in web marketing right now. And like straw that breaks camels’ backs, I’ve had enough.

Metrics are awesome. I like metrics. You like metrics. Some people really like metrics. But to what extent? And perhaps more importantly, at what cost?

Alarmingly (and I am not overstating my case), more and more marketers are sacrificing user experience for the sake of niche tracking. My dear friends, this should never be! Your site’s usability should always be the foremost consideration. Always.

A Worthwhile Thanksgiving

This has definitely been a year to learn to be thankful all over again. After taking so much for granted for so long, it seems like 2009 has been a year to remind you of what you have, who you are — and that everybody has something in their lives that nobody else does. In some way, some how, you probably found out this year that you had it made.

I discovered how blessed I am this year. And where it really showed was my amazing team here at Worthwhile, and I thought the best thing I could do was share with you how thankful I am for them. They’re smart, they’re witty. They challenge me at every turn, make me laugh when I’m stressed, hold my feet to the fire when they need to be (always!), and are always there to help. There is no “I” in this team:

All you Twitter fanatics crack me up. Not you Twitter fans — you’re cool. I dig you. But for all you people who engage in verbal make-out sessions with Twitter at every networking event, I have a message for you: Life called. It misses you.

Where are the innovators on Twitter? The ones who don’t “Join the Conversation” … but take the “Conversation” and turn it on its head? Twitter is, and always has been, a tool. And while some are keeping it at the tool-for-chatting level, it’s time for others to step it up. It’s time for Twitter to be used in new and innovative ways.
