Hey Matt,

We ended up going writing a native iOS app (with native apps for other platforms later as desired) since we wanted to build the highest possible quality app for our first foray into mobile development. Most of the cross-platform solutions (such as PhoneGap) still don't make the app "shine" on any platform. It does indeed save development time, so if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of polish, it's definitely a viable option.

Hi Ian, I realise this is quite a while after this post was written, but I'm doing some research into cross platform mobile applications as we have to make a call on what to build an application in. I was wondering what you ended up using? Unless i have missed it in the post?

I agree that they won't "go under", but he was so rare and so exceptional that I don't think they'll ever be the same company they were before. For one, his rock star status opened doors that no one else at Apple will ever be able to open (take for example his deals with recording artists, no one else could have had an open door with Bono and the Rolling Stones like he did). Second, his absolutely genius at filtering out the unnecessary and focusing like a laser beam on what was important is unparalleled and simply can't be replaced by another "great leader". What happened to Apple the first time Steve Jobs left will inevitably happen again, I propose. It just might take a few years longer this time around.

A lot of people look at Tim Cook as Steve's successor and wonder how could he replace Jobs. Cook picks up the administrative aspects of Steve's leadership, but don't forget that no one at Apple had more power than the designer Jony Ive. Apple is driven largely by design, so Ive will doubtless keep Apple aligned with Steve's vision as they bring his remaining brainchildren to light over time. But what IS Apple going to do with $70B in cash? Space travel, anyone? :-) Nanobots? You have to believe something big is ahead.

[...] As this social media blog noted, Facebook is all about YOU, the user. You create a profile describing YOURSELF. You update a status to let people know what YOU are doing. Personally, I think everytime I log on to Facebook and see new notifications, a rush of endorphins is immediately released. I think most people would agree that it feels good to know that your friends care enough about your daily shenanigans. It has, in some sense, become a social expectation to click that one little ”like” button. Because of Facebook’s growing prominence, “liking” a status has become more common, but importantly, more influential and meaningful.
Millions of people have been and will continue to be blessed by technology which steve jobs helped to discover in God's creation. God allows these discoveries for man's blessing and God's glory. I don't know if Steve's personal intentions were to bring glory to his Creator, but I am confident that he has. For that I am thankful and dedicate my remaining days to finding ways to point people to Christ using these technologies.

Yeah -- this list is three years old; we should probably update it. It will be very interesting to see where flash games go now that the Unreal Engine can be used in them.
