Writing Web Content

It’s a common question/quandary/obstacle/time delay all wrapped up into one — How do I write content for the Web? Here are three quick tips:

  1. The 30 second intro principle. Consider your home page content as the “sales pitch” you have to give. Even if you’re not selling a product or service, you’re always selling something — your story, your brand, your reputability, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dollar Deal Delusion

November 12th, 2008 by Brandon Godwin

I’m going to make some promises right out of the gate:

  1. You’ll never get a restaurant’s best steak for $9.99 (and if you can, pick a different restaurant).
  2. The “Value Menu” is probably a huge misnomer; you’re actually compromising quality for economy (not that this is ever bad to do)
  3. You’ll never get a new BMW at an unbelievable new Hyundai price. (cue Kia of Greer guy)

In summary, you never get the best of what a company can offer when you go with a cheaper option. I mean, is it really to be expected that for 99 cents, MacDonalds can give you all that they have to offer? (I’m sure jokes will ensue from here) Read the rest of this entry »

Setting - on the way to an “anonymous Greenville, SC tire station” to help a friend get his flat fixed. Since I was following behind for precautionary measures, I was the last to arrive at the scene.

While doing some research on the Web for marketing purposes, I found a good blog. Finding a good blog definitely makes a good day better. The blog - badlanguage.net. It has nothing to do with euphemisms or profanity from all that I can see. On the other hand, it contains a lot of helpful information about business, technology and marketing. The article that caught my eye, “What’s Your Profit : Pain Ratio?” rang true with many of my thoughts and conversations with the other Web strategists at Worthwhile. Read the rest of this entry »

Axioms from the ‘New Facebook’ (Part 2)

In the last month or so, the New Facebook haters seem to have been less active, and therefore less obnoxious. I think this has happened for at least two reasons (not that you didn’t think it wouldn’t happen):

  1. People realized when you receive a FREE service, especially on the level of this kind of software, complaining about and threatening the company really doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s like a homeless guy throwing a tantrum because they changed his favorite soup at the Community Kitchen. Really it is. Read the rest of this entry »
